All The Support That Money Can Buy

The health care bill is garnering some major support from some key groups just as public opinion is falling for it.  For those of you keeping track at home here’s some interesting tidbits of information.

  • A recent Pew survey found just 31 % of those aged 65 and over supported the health care bill.  This has largely to do with the proposed cut to medicare that will help to defray some of the costs associated with the new health care bill, along with the incredible expense and generational theft that fund the reform as well.
  • The AARP, has chosen to support the health care bill, despite widespread dissatisfaction with the bill among their membership.  They have lost 1000’s of members over their stance, however they did receive an 18 million dollar grant from Uncle Sam.
  • Last Saturday there was a Senate vote to begin debate on the health care proposal which needed a super majority to take place.  The Democrat party has the votes among their own ranks to provide this margin.  However, this bill is so flawed there were not enough interested Democrat Senators to vote for debate to begin t provide this margin until kickbacks to individuals started.
  • The most egregious kickback, commonly referred to as “The Louisiana Purchase” came in the form of a $100 million giveaway contained within the health care bill, to purchase the vote of Senator Mary Landrieu.  For her part Senator Landrieu expects the actual cost of the provisions to provide $300 million in discounts.
  • Another recent poll cited that only 19% thought that the health care bill would follow through on White House claims that costs would be lower under this proposal, which falls in line with the CBO, which reports that the costs would be well above predictions.

Just think, we get a Senate vote in favor of a plan the American public doesn’t want, which spends money we don’t have, and we’re spending even more money we don’t have to buy votes and support for this.  What a way to run a country!
